Series 4 Heat A

The true start of the series and we see one of the biggest shocks ever as the reigning champions are knocked out during the Heat! Of course that's not the only thing that happens. We see a slight change in the format as we get an extra battle, just for fun, which is a "third place playoff" where the two Round 2 losers battle it out for a extra battle. It should be noted that this was originally going to be leading to a large rumble/annihilator style special that never came to be, basically all 16 winners would battle each other with only one survivor but because of the massive production issues it was cancelled, but these third place playoff battles are still there as an extra battle. It is rather funny how the sacrificial robot, Bullsquid, managed to survive the first round despite being made just to die. It's also worth noting that the show is fully 4:3 now rather than awkwardly shifting in aspect ratios.

Series 4 Annihilator 2

Like with Extreme 2 there's two annihilators and this is currently the last ever Arenas of Destruction annihilator and Arenas of Destruction special in Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles (currently!) It also features a cool custom robot called Jabberwock. Not much to say except the specials are over now for the very long tournament...

Series 4 World Championship

While the International Championship was fine, a full blown World Championship is something that was desired for some time. Here, Series 4's desire to be bigger and better shows itself with the World Championship where we have several competitors from all over the world battling it out for a chance to become WORLD CHAMPIONS! It also featured the first time we see a few famous competitors like Supernova.

Series 4 Allstars

The longest episode of Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles ever! Featuring the very best of the best and the most famous machines from Robot Combat history. It's got loads of robots and was the first time showing off what to except for upcoming Series 4. It shows the new arena, the new statsboards, the new editing, the new robots and a new replay feature...which was never used again... This episode is one massive epic!

Series 4 Annihilator 1

Because Series 4 was much bigger and had to have so many edits to be made. It meant when things were announced, there needed to be a few things to tide things over. Annihilator 1 was another Arenas of Destruction special and is pretty much the same as what we've seen before, just with more flashy edits.

Series 4

Series 4 of Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles is the longest, biggest and perhaps most complex series so far. Development for this series began in 2019, and the series didn't finish airing until 2021...You see with other real life events taking place, Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles Series 4 was heavily held back, to add to this it had more complex and thought out editing which meant it took even longer, PLUS there were over 100 robots involved. This Series also had a "flipper ban" as too many flippers were winning and so to try and get another type to win, we also see users creating robots and submitting them, provided they didn't create a flipper...The series was initially meant to have been the last ever series due to production problems but of course in 2022 this would change...

Series 3 Grand Final

Unlike previous Grand Finals, this one is just four robots and straight forward knock outs. The four finalists are surprising as Mute is a newcomer who came from nothing, Last Rites who was always down on his luck, Eruption who has always fallen in first round and Chompalot who no one expected to reach a Heat Final, Semi-Final let alone a GRAND FINAL! So we have two flippers, a spinner and a claw...Who wins? Well you'll have to watch!

Series 3 Semi-Finals 2

The second Semi-Finals is somewhat weaker than the first. More rambot action and whilst it does have some fun action like Sewer Snake losing wheels but overall it's a weaker entry. That said, Mute being a surprising winner as is Last Rites FINALLY getting to the Grand Final, in turn this episode marks the first and only time Big Nipper fails to reach the Grand Final! History certainly made with both these Semi-Finals and the four Finalists are a surprising bunch to say the least...

Series 3 Semi-Finals 1

The first ever Semi-Finals! Here we have six robots battling each other, a loser's melee and only two robots entering the Grand Final. The Semi-Finals offer the best of the very best, although it also shows some very big surprises such as Eruption, who had lost in the first rounds twice and now Grand Finalist after this episode and Chompalot's wonderful and surprising run this series continuing in more amazingly shocking ways!

Series 3 Heat L

The final Heat and the first time we have a clusterbot in the series...which is technically two lightweights in a tag team fight against the other opponents, but shhh! This Heat also saw Razer in the main competition, the future champions did well for the first outing and it's ironic they faced Big Nipper of all robots... Now onto the Semi Finals!

Series 3 Heat K

The second to last Heat now and we see some famous faces throughout, such as Barber-Ous, Tough as Nails, Gravity, Sabretooth and Plunderbird. Brilliant action throughout with some awesome hits. It's also very nice seeing the Dutch Tough as Nails do well for a change instead of failing early on. Not much to say on this one...at least we don't need to link it for a change...

Series 3 Heat J

Last Rites was a robot that always looked deadly and yet seemingly was always beaten down by it's poor reliability or a crooked Robot Arena 2 physics engine. Here however, it managed to break through its Heat curse and in destructive style! Although was the Heat Final a fair decision?

Series 3 Heat I

It's very interesting seeing how robots that a series before do extremely well, do extremely poorly here, perhaps it's because there's no Human controlled robots? Electric Boogaloo's fall from grace was surprising as it looked deadly then was quickly put down. Seeds throughout this series seem to be cursed...

Series 3 Heat H

One robot that surprisingly didn't appear before was Sewer Snake, a really famous and beloved robot from the US by Team Plumb Crazy and one that certainly showed it's might in this Heat. We also are greeted to Carbide's debut, one of if not the most  deadly spinners in the UK...here in a Robot Arena 2 show it's...eh...not so strong. It's also worth pointing out that around this time last series the Heats were done for while here it's still got four more Heats, two semi finals and then the Grand Final!

Series 3 Heat G

The first six Heats determined the first half of the Semi Finals, after that there's a short break and the second half of the series begins. This second half begins with some excellent robots and brilliant action with Hypno-Disc, S.M.I.D.S.Y., Raging Morg and Kronic delivering some fantastic flips, bashes and fights. Probably one of the most action packed Heats and one that manages to capture the greatness of the show for the start of the second half of Series 3 well.

See link below to watch:

Series 3 Heat F

Spinners in Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles tend to not do too well. Perhaps due to the Robot Arena mod making armour extra hard and the physics sending robots flying or ricocheting violently to the point of sending itself out, spinners rarely work...then this episode happened and spinners became a massive threat. Scorpion having a smaller spinner was able to rip and tear the competition and showed us all that spinners were not to be messed with! Also the recording crashed near the end resulting in the Heat Final being cut short...

Series 3 Heat E

One problem that can emerge from a longer series is that views tend to dip at some point and Heat E it seems was that point for Series 3, suffering a massive dip. Heat E sees plenty of allstar robots in Behemoth, Tornado, Megabyte and Iron-Awe, you'd think with massive names like that it would be successful but alas it wasn't...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoTurTLc9sA

Series 3 Heat D

Heat D strangely feels like a replica of the real life Heat D from Series 8 with Storm 2 and Eruption in this Heat taking the places of the MVPs. Here we see more Arenas of Destruction rumbles and plenty of "flipping" great action!

Series 3 Heat C

Heat C lives in infamy for containing one of if not THE BIGGEST SHOCK in the series. Chompalot really is the unsung hero of this series and this Heat, the robot who no one would expect to become a Grand Finalist beats the First Series champion in an epic and shocking Heat Final. This Heat is considered one of the very best episodes in Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles history, not one to miss!

Series 3 Heat B

Heat B sees a lot of familiar faces in Meggamouse but also a lot of newcomers with familar faces from robot Wars, such as 3 Stegs to Heaven. While Heat A had a explosive start, Heat B takes things a little slower but still manages to have tight action in the excellent Heat Final. Here we see an example of using other arena rumbles, once again using Arenas of Destruction which also shows off unseen House Robots like Sgt Bash!

See link to watch episode:

Series 3 Heat A

Heat A of Series 3 was highly anticipated as after several trailers and teasers, it promised to be bigger and more epic than before, and Heat A was to serve as an introduction to this new era! The very opening is meant to show that this is indeed a brand new era with the atypical opening. Presentation is the major key to this series and it's going as over the top as it wants. The first Heat shows the reigning champs against various different robots with many newcomers showing off their talents, namely Atomic. The Heat also features a rebrand of side events with Featherweights and rumbles.  This is meant to blow people away and certainly worked, obtaining huge amount of views and being a grand opening to what is for many the best series.

Series 3

Series 3 was a massive Series. It was the first time having 12 Heats and 2 Semi Finals before the Grand Final. The first time having live action segments to introduce and present the show. This series even had trailers! Series 3 was a big hit and was in a way the best Series to some fans. Series 3 represents change and improvements over its basic predecessor. The series also got rid of the awful round robin and went straight for straight forward knock outs.

Extreme 2 Annihilator 2

The final episode of Extreme 2 and it ends as it began with an Arenas of Destruction annihilator! This would be the last episode before Series 3 and overall Extreme 2's success allowed for Series 3 to be improved and have all these fixes made before filming. It was also a way to see what worked and what didn't, for example, Allstars, International Championship and annihilators = Good! Tag Team, House Robot Rebellion = boring.

Extreme 2 Tag Team Terror

The Tag Team Terror Returns and so does a few of the teams. This was the first video released in 2018, in fact it was released on the first of January. Keeping with the theme of "bigger and better" The Tag Team Terror is filled with eight teams, often with a theme (like similar weaponry, designs, seen in Robot Wars as partners) but what's hilarious is the fact that the final teams is "Team Champ" and "Team Runnersup" and they finish in that order too...

Extreme 2 House Robot Rebellion

Similar to the Challenge Belt, here we see just how much of an improvement the second Extreme series is when compared to Extreme 1. House Robot Rebellion saw competitors against House Robots and...well we see just how weak the House Robots, save for Shunt, were in these earlier days. It was in a weird way just a bunch of exhibition matches and a way to show how powerful the competitors are. Plus it was a nice way to show off the House Robots...

Extreme 2 Challenge Belt

After a long break, the Challenge Belt was finally released. Here it fixes a lot of the issues that Extreme 1 had by making it more elaborate and one big episode rather than multiple. Keeping with the "win three and get the belt" we have all the competitors battling each other in a Heat like format and the winner of the belt is the one who has won three battles. It's a much smoother, more fun and more structured format than the random Challenge Belt battles in the vain hope of getting a belt winner.

Extreme 2 Allstars

Of all episodes that I tend never to rewatch it's this one. Released in December after taking some time to created the episode (it was around this time Windows 10 screwed the X-Box screen capture for PC), however, when it was scheduled to be released...tragedy struck. A friend of mine who had recently moved to Canada, had committed suicide. It happened around 1st December and came as a shock so much so I couldn't properly process it. I edited a short tribute at the end of this episode but such a sudden shock and loss meant there was a downpour of content being made at the time, and a lot of of alcohol being drunken. It was a dark time and this episode is one I refuse to rewatch unless I need to for other projects. As of writing this, a friend of mine is going to name his baby after our lost friend, his legacy still lives on.

Extreme 2 International Championship

In Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles, there has been several international competitors in the show and so a mini World Championship of sorts featuring robots from all over the world battling each other. This episode featured some of the new Robot models that was available during this time in a separate mod for the Robot Wars+ mod for Robot Arena 2, these included a new Diotoir and Razer. The International Championship was a perfect example to show off these new models and see how they act, of course not knowing how to A.I. robots properly, the new models were, for the time being, player controlled, which was very difficult while also trying to use freecam to film the footage...

Extreme 2 New Blood

New Blood was the first time using the new arena and was a way to offer a sort of qualifier to unseen robots and unknown potential. It also introduced the new filming technique, which was freecam, allowing for better shots of the action, at the expense of seeing a computer mouse on screen dragging the camera about. This also had fully A.I. controlled robots rather than having a user controlled one, allowing for more fair action to take place. It also happened to have been released when Series 10 of Robot Wars aired.

Extreme 2 Capture the Flag

Capture the Flag in the regular game is a heptic game mode as all competitors have to grab a flag and hold onto it the longest, however, more often or not, robots will kill each other and and their usually a large pile of immobilized robots in the corner. Quite surprised this never became a side event but regardless, this puts the Wacky in Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles.

Extreme 2 Annihilator 1

Extreme 2 starts off with the first of two annihilators, and this time using a completely different game! You see Robot Arena 2 has a massive issue, you can only have four robots in the arena, as such, having a load means going to a different source and because at the time the Arenas of Destruction playthrough was taking place, this meant that an annihilator was possible. There were some issues however. The capture used the Windows 10 X-Box capture, which is great on PC...until it updated, then it basically committed suicide and broke meaning it freezes and crashes the computer. Yes a really useful feature broken by a Windows 10 update sometime in November 2017, this put a massive downer on all PC recordings for a while. The X-Box capture device did work but only if you recorded JUST 30 seconds, then it messed up! Despite this, the annihilator was a blast and was the first of what's known as the "Arena of Destruction specials"

(For some Reason you can't add a video for thsi one just follow the link instead)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdawl16IidI

Extreme 2

Extreme 2 was another mid series break and also the beginning of the "McGee era" of the show. Extreme 2 featured a new arena, new robots, new recording style and much more. This serves a purpose, other than entertainment, it serves the job of showing off how things have changed and what can be improved for the upcoming Series 3. Of course there's still the odd flaw here and there, such as the lighting and the fact that it's the really ugly 2016 Robot Wars arena, and some of these issues were included for Series 3 also. However, it also highlights a massive upgrade from Series 1-2 in terms of the technical department. It's no wonder then that Extreme 2 did so well when it aired.

Series 2 Grand Final

And so comes the Grand Final, 8 robots and only 1 champion! However, this is more than just a regular Grand Final, this is the end of an era. No more Fraps after this, no more shoddy editing and no more videos on the Diotoir channel. Around this time The Magnificent Mr McGee channel was created, a channel dedicated to original content and less so reuploads of Robot Wars or other media and because plans to monetise videos were already being planned (shortly afterwards YouTube decided to change the rules so that you have to hit 1000 subscribers...) and so Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles would be moved to the channel it is on even to this day. This episode also featured the first time free cam was used after the player controlled robot was quickly taken out, and a rush to get decent footage was need and so free cam was used to show the battles. It was brief scare but it would later turn out to be an effective tool for the next series...

Series 2 Heat H

The final Heat of the Second Series, and already there's a massive mistake. Big Nipper the secon seeds got into the Heat Final despite losing more battles than winning...yeah...Unknown why this happened, perhaps seed bias or a mistake on scoring, who knows. Flea is another custom made robot and one that has some interesting trivia, it was originally going to be a robot called "Arachnophobia" which was going to be a weirdly shaped white robot with a large spinner at front, however, being bad at making Robot Arena robots bit mean this awful little thing was created and prompt destroyed...

Series 2 Heat G

It's funny, the show is called "Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles" but the first series and Extreme 1 NEVER had Diotoir as a competitor! That was until this very episode. Here a custom made Diotoir was added, it was made by PrimevalBrony and was a simple but effective Diotoir for the series. Of course a Series later we'll see a proper Diotoir but for the time being this very episode was the official debut of everyone's favourite Irish polka dot robot!

Series 2 Heat F

Heat F features a whole lot of "old vs new" robots. It has classics like Killertron, Stinger, X-Terminator, but the newer machines in Foxic, TR2 and even Thor to an extent. The real show stealer however, is Electric Boogaloo which is such a well made machine and a powerful spinner at that.

Series 2 Heat E

By this point last series it would have been the final Heat before the Grand Final but with a bigger format it means the show can keep going, which can either benefit or create a disadvantage as noted in future seasons that viewer ship tends to dip around the half way mark. Heat E features another homemade robot in I.C. which was basically an Infernal Contraption clone (although later the real Infernal Contraption would be able to appear in DWR) as well as the series champion the new and improved Beast!

Series 2 Heat D

Last Series this would have been the second to last Heat, this series it's the mid-way point to the series. Heat D features tons of famous machines, such as Hypno-Disc, Nuts, Tornado, Breaker Box, Chompalot and Gravity. However, this Heat subverts expectations on many great machines, you'd think would win or do well only to be quickly defeated. Interesting Heat, especially Chompalot who in later seasons would become a Grand Finalist...

Series 2 Heat C

Series 2 Heat C is a Heat with fan favourites Barber-Ous making a debut, amazing how it never appeared in Series 1 but the likes of Noisy Cricket did...In fact IRL Series 7 champion Typhoon 2 also debuts here despite being what is considerably an "allstar" robot. Amazing how these were missed out on Series 1 and even Extreme 1 for that matter...This episode also debuts the first time another user has submitted a robot, in this case a Trolley Rage replica by a user called PrimevalBrony.

Series 2 Heat B

Heat B sees seeds Behemoth more or less in a rematch against Apex for this episode, Apex being the first competitor to have an upgraded appearance on the show (and very obviously being controlled by the player not A.I.) this idea of robot appearing differently in shows will become far more prevalent in Extreme 2 and Series 3, but this is just a slight taster for how machines upgrade over the series.

Series 2 Heat A

Series 2 is moreorless a continuation of Series 1 with modifications here and there, like an introduction, battleboards and side events, in particular the King of the Hill event which all things considered was quite boring and took up time...That said Heat A also see the first time Seeds are used, in this case the reigning champion Weird mAlice and also few new comers that hadn't appeared before, including one robot which was build simply because of the banana prop and paint job, it just had to exist! We also see the first time statsboards are used, these being ones from Series 8 of Robot Wars, blanked out and replaced with DWR competitors and stats.

The Ultimate Warrior: Thor

The second of the Ultimate Warrior collection and this time it's the powerful axe of Thor! Of course it didn't start off very well, losing in the first rounds of Series 1 and 2 but its axe always provided great hits and was always brutal in battle. An allstar champion and grand finalist, Thor is certainly a fan favourite!

Series 2

Series 2 is bigger than Series 1, featuring eight Heats and a Grand Final as well as side events. However aside from that, it is very much similar if not almost a replica of the first series, using the same arena, same recording techniques and same format. That said there is a difference between the first two series...minor however...

Extreme 1 Weapon Matches

Extreme 1 was created while working on other projects as an aside and as we reach the final Extreme 1 episode it's amazing to see how much would later improve and be added into the future of the show. The weapon matches would be recreated later on and yet seemed almost perfect from the start. A set of robots with the same weapons battle each other to see who's the best flipper/axe/crusher etc.  The last episode before Series 2 was created...would the second series live up to the hype?

Extreme 1 Challenge Belt

Like with SUMO this was split up...for some reason. Challenge Belt has a "belt holder" who must win three matches in order to win the competition, based on the episodes here it seems it took a while!

Extreme 1 House Robot Rebellion

One of the things really desired for Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles was the need for House Robots. House Robots are fun and can make what could be a boring competition lively, however with Robot Arena 2, it's virtually impossible and whilst one robot could be a User controlled House Robot the competitors would go after that House Robot rather than each other. Therefore it was a special occasion to get a House Robot involved. Here competitors battle House Robots and that's about it. Given this is the Robot Wars mod and the House Robots featured are replicas from the 2013 live shows rather than the real thing, it meant Matilda had a rather timid looking flywheel and Oll-E was...useless but Shunt was the king for sure and made up for it!

Extreme 1 Allstars

The allstars is meant to be a representation of the very best, the most famous robots in history battling it out to see who truly is the very best. Of course for Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles there's a slight clash with Robot Wars as many competitors did poorly in DWR Series 1 and are in the allstars because they are household names in Robot Wars and the like. This being the first allstars it's very much inspired by the same round robin format that plagued Series 8 and 9 of Robot Wars but does have a ton of great and memorable battles. Like with other Extreme 1 episodes this features a new addition to the show, in the form of battle tables, crudely, poorly edited together and all in all crap battle tables, but battle tables nonetheless!

Extreme 1 Tag Team Terror

The Tag Team was the first time seeing robots work together but also the debut of the very first Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles introductory titles and the series logo! Through this introduction, we see clips from battles never aired and instead created for the sake of creating an "epic opening" of course with a big "Fraps.com" at the top it looks rather silly, and the incorrect aspect ratio also is a hinderance but it was an effort to slowly progress things for this show, scrappily so...

Extreme 1 Sumo

Extreme 1 saw the debut of many things. For example, the SUMO. Sumo wold return as a side event later on but it also debut several robots that hadn't appeared yet and was the first time we ever had a House Robot appear, in this case Shunt. For some reason this was split into different episodes as opposed to being just one singular episode and there's no description for several challengers. Hope you enjoy!

Extreme 1

Extreme 1 was a way to show a bunch of random side competitions as a bit of fun, while also serving as a semi qualifier for a second series. Through Extreme 1, editing has slightly improved and more robots debut however the format and showing is still in need of improvements, take the SUMO for example which is spread across several individual episodes rather than one big episode. That said it continues off of Series 1, with some improvements here and there. Of course if you follow the Extreme 1 label you can see the series.

Series 1 Grand Final

After five deadly Heats five finalists and a wildcard battle it out to become champion! Not much else to say other than the champion of this first series was a surprise for sure...

Series 1 Heat E

The final Heat and interesting seeing future champions Beast do poorly here considering how successful it'll be later on. In fact this also has one of the most unique OOtAs and an early never seen Apex.

Series 1 Heat D

Heat D has some surprises and shocks, it also features The Naked Rat which was the first custom made robot that entered the arena and was a competitor that appeared in Banter Wars (interestingly this was the first time Naked Rat 2 appeared).

The Ultimate Warrior: Big Nipper

The epic crusher/lifter of Big Nipper was an obvious choice to be the first "Ultimate Warrior" as it's sort of the representation of "always the bridesmaid but never the bride" as it's constantly gotten to Grand Finals and always it seems comes second/runners up. Despite this it's faced serious competition over the years with battles against Last Rites, Razer, Dantomkia, Beast 2, Weird mAlice, Thor, Behemoth and so many more... Here is a compilation of Big Nipper's achievements over the years in the first ever Ultimate Warrior collection. Fun Fact: This is the first ever time we see a new opening for Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles since Series 3...

Series 1 Heat C

Heat C really shows how heavily influenced the at the time current reboot of Robot Wars was as it's a near replica of the actual Series 8 Heat C, featuring Dantomkia and TR2 in the lead star rolls.

Series 1 Heat B

The second Heat from Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles features allstar Hypno-Disc and eventual Series 1 champions Weird mAlice. This also happens to accidentally feature a Facebook message sound effect play in the background if you listen closely...

Series 1 Heat A

The very beginning...Here we have a varied selection of robots from Big Nipper, TX-109 and Gripper (crushers), Manta and Tsunami (Flippers), Crusher (Cerberus), Spinner (Last Rites) and an axe? (Noisy Cricket) and within the first battle we already get a massive shock!

Series 1

The first series of Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles is a very simple series. It featured only 40 competitors, used the default Robot Wars arena and was recorded using a free version of Fraps which meant it kept cutting out every 30 seconds...and had "Fraps" at the top of every episode. It also didn't help it was recorded with Robot Arena 2 features like robot health and points earned/lost, as well as having to control certain robots.

Initially this was inspired by the success and popularity of then show Banter Wars created by A Heap of Games. Of course whilst it was inspired also by Robot Wars' 2016 reboot, the first series still has many great fights and despite its simple editing and basic display, it certainly is the personification of the phrase "we all gotta start somewhere".

Here is the full series in one big compilation.

Welcome!

Hello there and welcome to the official Diotoir's Wacky Rumbles Blog, here you'll be able to see every episode of the show to chat and discuss. Here you can even find out about any behind the scenes facts and trivia, as well as all the individual stuff that make the show what it is.

Dutch Wars Heat D

Heat D was a moment when I started thing, perhaps a European Championship could happen? Like imagine European robots from Germany, The Neth...
